The 2001 Georgia game, first game of the season, came up in the Geno interview podcast thread and as I never saw the game and someone put it up on YouTube, I just finished watching it. Georgia was ranked 3rd to UConn's #1 ranking.
A trip down memory lane:
What a machine that team was. First game of the season had some rough patches, but Sveta, Shea, Sue, Asha, Shuey et al were relentless. Geno was subbing 3 at a time and running an athletic Georgia club out of the building. Landers was beside himself. DT's first shot as a Husky, a made 3, and a couple of memorable passes that presaged great things to come. Shea was classic, scrappy Shea. Our least favorite referee tried to ruin the game, though hurting Georgia worse than Connecticut. Shea got 3 questionable calls on her and fouled out with 5 plus minutes left and if looks could kill we would have been freed of that ref that night! Frosh Ashley Valley and Battle had some nice moments, Maria not so much.
Anyway, I heartily endorse this piece of nostalgia for you to view and share your favorite moments.

I didn't notice until just now the alliteration of the starters: Sue, Swin, Svet, Shuey, Shea

That was fun! I remember watching that and being amazed at the number of fabulous players UConn had. They just kept shuttling in and out. We can hope that there will be a similar sub pattern with the group this year. Wonder how many fouls were called in that game - hurt both sides.

Just enjoyed the first half Made one think that Geno is quite adept at getting playing time for a big talented roster (like he has this season)
