ESPN fixed the quote in its article and now quotes Geno accurately.

ESPN does it again. Takes one of Geno's quotes from the interview, never provides context, changes his quote and then gets Mechelle Voepel to make a bunch of silly statements on twitter that has very little to do with the interview. What quote am I talking about? The one in which Geno talked about some UConn fans being so g-d stupid it's unbelievable. ESPN proceeds to change the quote (to make it even more controversial) and that's the sum total of its coverage of what is really a terrific interview. This is ESPN at its worst, and Voepel doesn't help matters. I can understand some fans not liking the quote, but that shouldn't be the sum total of what you take out of that interview. Yet, that's what ESPN and Voepel have done. Not surprising but disappointing nonetheless. "Some of our fans are so goddamn stupid it's unbelievable. They complain a lot of times that we have no competition and it's boring. Then if we play a really good team and don't play our A-game, they bitch that something's wrong with UConn: 'This kid's not any good. That kid's not any good. Geno Auriemma got outcoached by this coach.' It's unbelievable." I love this quote. I was not a fan of the folks who fall into the category Geno speaks of above. One of the reasons my activity was curtailed (so to speak) by some mods on TOB was because I was trying to get these folks to understand how unreasonable they were being with these comments. That was the beginning of the end of the quality of TOB, and the beginning of the end of my being a regular poster over there...although I am tempted beyond reason to post this same quote over there and see what happens....

Because I was told to post elsewhere Really? Maybe it was moderated out. I don't think you said anything to merit that. It's just chat.

I listened to Voepol's little broadcast and couldn't get upset by her saying sometimes Geno comes off whiney. By like token, I find it entirely understandable that Geno get's ticked, and occasionally wants to say so, about fickle fans. UConn plays at such a high level and he refuses to allow his team to play down to an opponent SO when they are tested in a game occasionally, they can deliver. I couldn't get upset at Voepel because she did say UConn has been very good for the game, forcing many to raise their games, etc. All in all I thought the ESPN effort to wring out something more from the podcast was positive.

Just to be clear...it will take quiet an egregious act to get kicked off this board. Someone may be sent to the Dog House...but that (in most cases) will be a temporary situation.
No one has even come close to the type of behavior that would warrant an admin telling someone they are not wanted here. Though there has been an extended stay in the dog house...mostly because that poster seems to have one purpose and one purpose only in posting here. Other than personal attacks, that poster has adding nothing of substance here.

Because I was told to post elsewhere Not really. "Had they lost that game, dissing Diana for those missed shots would have been nothing short of criminal. welcome to TOB, cause that's what they do." I guess your post was kinda related to how they post on TOB, but not one told you to post elsewhere. I hope you stick around. this indeed was my intent. Had yours or anyone's comments been deemed boot-worthy, and as Chappy notes above, not boot but dog-house worthy, you would have been told in a very straight forward manner (something like - 'ok that's it - you're outta here'), and not without some discussion between the three mods. No one of the admins here would boot anyone on their own without first a discussion it with the other admins.

This is a welcoming board; not a knee-jerk board!
