Fascinating. The complaint is that he's been defending himself and NBA refereeing anonymously. While I agree that the league would prefer he not do that, it is a pretty minor thing as compared to ... gambling on games (as happened), changing outcomes to benefit someone (as has happened), or for gross incompetence (which we do see in WCBB).

The loneliness of being a ref. Returning to your hotel late at night, thinking that all you get is grief from players and fans. Never a "great game call, ref!" Just grief. Glad refs aren't reading our board!

Glad refs aren't reading our board! If they wanted a job where everyone expects you to be wrong more often than you are right, they should have gone into meteorology! I know it is a tough job. And they get a lot of grief. But if it were that bad, many of them would leave the profession. On some level, they love what they do...or are simply not qualified for anything else (btw, that is a joke).

Reminds me just a tiny bit of the folks at my work who put their own company email addresses into customer contact information at the end of the transaction. When "the customer" got the automatically generated loyalty survey they would give "their company rep" rave reviews, time after time. This was done at MANAGER direction to make sure his/her team looked good. Oh, a whole lotta folks were walked out when it came to light.
