I believe it was in the wake of the Tennessee victory, that Geno made a couple of comments that concerned me at the time. Lou had had a marvelous game (and a marvelous season) but Geno said something to the effect that she was the most valuable (or irreplaceable, or something) player on the team. And he went on to say that he loved the fact that she was an 'adult,' from which one could reasonably infer that he felt that the other key players were not.
Maybe it's just coincidence, but it seems to me that Aaliyah, may have really taken those comments to heart. She had played brilliantly all season, on both offense and defense, and not only did her coach not think she was his best performer, he indirectly criticized her maturity. And perhaps it is indeed a sign of her immaturity that immediately thereafter she proceeded to play her two worst games of the season, looking unsure of herself for the first time all year.
On the other side of the coin, I think that Lou, who never could have dreamed that she would be UConn's most-relied-upon player when she signed on, suddenly may have felt the weight of being, in Geno's eyes, the girl/woman on whom he most depends.
And she, too, has played a couple of sub-par, for her, games.
Just coincidence, or an unforced error - the first one all year - by Coach Auriemma?

Geno has been very emotional lately. Even Kara said last night that she's never seen him quite like this before. I listen as always to what he says , but right now not taking everything as etched in stone. There are always differences in maturity on a team. I'm also not sure these young women are as fragile emotionally as sometimes the fans think they are. Especially if they've already been here a full season.

Lou also happens to be 24, lived in 4 countries, played in 3. Speaks multiples languages very well and is working on a graduate degree. Not a wonder that he may find her a little more mature than some of the players. Coach has also praised AE to the skies on multiple occasions. Such a reach. OMG.
These young women have been giving it their all, Geno has been thru some very wrenching personal times, everyone is tired mentally and physically, and you suggest errors by Coach and sulking by team members. OMG. You are really looking really hard to find faults.

You're right! It is just a coincidence.
Lou is irreplaceable this year. So is Aaliyah, whom Geno takes every opportunity to praise as well.
Aaliyah's recent struggles are largely do to defensing figuring out that if they can beat up Lou, there is effectively no outside threat of any volume to worry about and they can collapse on Aaliyah. The lanes for her drives are now largely closed to her.

Not to mention that Lou has been getting increasingly grabbed, pushed, bumped and otherwise jostled by the opposition with very little objection from the zebras? That'll take a toll both physically and mentally?

I'll go one further - it's a grand illusion BTW - and completely off topic - The Grand Illusion album was released by Styx the summer after I graduated high school. It was one of my favorite albums, and was a much listened to 8 track on the three hour trip back and forth from college and home for my entire college experience. I may have even wore out the 8 track. Or my 8 track player in my car ate it. Still one of my favorites and just as relevant today as it was then.
