Absolutely it needs to continue! It is good for the sport!
But Tennessee needs to hold up their end of the bargain and get better. As big as those ratings are. They would have been a lot better if Tennessee could have kept the game competitive.

They would have been a lot better if Tennessee could have kept the game competitive. The Tennessee idea of getting better is in paying off their homer officiating crew better. There must have been a BIG cash drop between the 1st and 2nd qtrs this game? Tennessee was scraping up every cent they could and paid them late; hence our great 1st qtr? 2nd qtr saw the officials letting Tennessee know how much they appreciated their largesse.

They would have been a lot better if Tennessee could have kept the game competitive. I'd want some guarantees before returning to Knoxville (not the ridiculous "Rocky Top" which is the name of a mediocre bluegrass song that sounds like it came right out of "Deliverance").** How about a guarantee of some level of civility in the arena (could the Lady Vols actually try being gracious hosts?); that their team actually play basketball as opposed to "foul ball" (yeah, physicality is certainly part of the game but we all know there is a difference when the Huskies play certain teams); a guarantee of trained, professional, and fair referees; and (and I'm dreaming here) the overbearing nature of the hideous orange in the arena be toned down. **There actually is a town in Tennessee northwest of Knoxville called "Rocky Top." But of course it was named after the song in 2013. It was originally Coal Creek and more recently Lake City until the powers-that-be in Lake City decided to take the offer of a "water park" from some local businessmen and rename it after the song as they requested. Wikipedia is my source for these details and notes that they haven't gotten the water park quite yet. There's also a mountaintop in Tennessee, near Gatlinburg, called Rocky Top, which is quite a distance southeast of Knoxville.

Besides Geno wanting to help Pat's fund.... Well, those numbers will help Tennessee, who looked so good against UConn, get recruits like in 2023. Ooops......

bwahahahahaha
still, Geno does want to promote the "Pat Summitt" fund. He was one of the first to donate (generously) when her illness became public knowledge. although TN will NEVER acknowledge it, he really is a gentleman.

Loved the game. Gonna help UCONN recruiting too. It might be a coincidence, but it is true that UConn got a commitment the very next day.

The Tenn team itself, with the exception of a couple of aggressive fouls, was okay. Harper wasn't gracious, but she wasn't insulting.
I think we're mainly POed at the weirdly horrible reffing and the Tenn fans on their board!
Once you buy into supporting Pat's fund and memory via this rivalry, discontinuing for these reasons would seem small-minded to Geno.
No matter how ugly the rivalry was when Pat was alive, and it was much, much uglier than today, it wasn't Geno who ended it.

I disagree (as do all real UCONN fans), we should not be playing TN. I hope we never play them again. It's beneath us.

I think it might good to pause it unless we can have some guarantees that our players are not going to get hurt. It's not worth it. I feel the same way about the Georgia coach. I just wouldn't play rugby with these morons.

Further still, Geno continues to be willing to sacrifice his preferences and desires "for the good of the game." He knows that this night on the schedule garners a ton of attention and draws a lot of eyes who might otherwise never see a women's game

I just wouldn't play rugby with these morons. There are no guarantees preventing injury. Ice and Paige were injured during non-game situations. Players get injured during pick-up games, practice, etc. The game has become much more physical. We may not like it, but it is how the game has evolved. If UConn shies away from all physical teams, that will not prepare them for the post-season.

Not that is matters what I think. But if the decision were up to me. I would probably sack Kellie in the summer. I was watching the men’s team today. And the men are a top 10 program. There is more parity in the men’s game. The men’s program does not have some of the advantages that the women’s program has. Advantages that exist because of Pat Summit. This shows me what can happen when you have the right coach!
This women’s team was a top 5 team before the season started. The coach tactically seems like she still hasn’t figured out her best five. They fell apart last season too. The recruiting has been poor. It is hard to not look at LSU and be envious.
I would sack Kellie unless she does something great to change my mind in the last month.

Personally I think they should give Coach Jumper a chance. Heck, give him a life long contract.

The thing that absolutely perplexes me is recruiting. A program with the history, fame, and fan support like the Vols just shouldn't struggle recruiting, at least to the current degree. I'm not a recruiting maven, at all - but, the only explanation that comes to my mind is, when potential recruits interact with the program - whether the coaching staff or current players - something just comes across as a red flag. As far as I know, the facilities are first-rate - so, what's the problem?

On the other hand, Harper may be setting her sights very high, thinking that she doesn't want to settle for 2nd tier talent, since she can attract better via the portal (or so she believes).
