To have to break your heart. Didn't want to have to do it I kept a hop'in from the very start......... Lady Vol Nation is more rapidly coming to terms with the fact that their coach isn't elite as a P5 coach. Plenty of calls for Kellie to be fired and replaced by a better coach. Kara Lawson is referenced, but I think Kara is too intelligent to leave Duke for Tennessee. Of course, some of the cave-dwelling Habsburg-jawed hillbillies are content to merely blame the horrible officiating and ESPN for throwing the game in the favor of UConn? Now too, there's plenty of trepidation from the orange clowns about their showdown @ sold out LSU on Monday night too? Some Lady Vol Nation comments: I believe this may have put the nail in Kellie's coffin. Kellie needs to return to coaching at schools like Western Carolina and Missouri State where she had a reasonable amount of success. She is over her coaching ability at P5 school like NC State and UT. UT needs to find the best head coach available, man or woman. Ya she needs to go, they hired her as a safe under the radar attempt at a cheap fix, they need to get a splash hire and get away from the summit tree .. the name brand of the program still can win easy just need the right coach and Harper isn’t the answer Is it disappointing or expected? She’s been a D1 coach for 20 years but gets treated as if she needs more time to prove she can win. In 20 years of you haven’t won, that’s expected not disappointing. 17 point loss on national audience doesn’t get your contract extended either. Benchmark game on where you stack in year four didn’t produce a positive result. Ugh I'm about ready for change at the top. She never makes adjustments or tries anything new. It's the definition of insanity. Fire her AND the wimps she’s recruited. Not a good look for her there was a big chance for recruiting to make a splash and it was a big fat egg.. Next season will be hilarious. We will fo sho be sub .500 Time to get away for the Summit coaching tree. Tried 2 both can't coach a lick. With Horston and Jackson gone after this year we are really going to be in trouble. Kara has Duke ranked in year 2. Kellie has us unranked in year 4. I love our coach as a person but I'm sorry, I think it's time for a change. No reason to have this much talent and play the way we do. Imagine if Uconns 4 starters weren't out today. Shesh UConn with their full roster beats us by 30-40 points. I’m not excited for Baton Rouge at all. I don't even follow the girls team like I used to because it's been nothing but a pathetic showing anymore, but I will watch everytime it's on TV or a big game. Would yall who follow closely say Kelly is on the hot seat? I really hope so and I hate saying that because she's a good person but this is embarrassing ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's plenty more and the Mods have removed / deleted many of the posts calling for Kellie to be removed as well? Not a happy place. The Rotary Connection did a really nice cover of this John Sebastian song in 1967. They were a Chicago area band from the mid 60's and achieved some modest fame. Background vocals feature Minnie Riperton who initially worked as a receptionist for the record company, but who also had a strong musical background. Lead vocalist on this track was Bobby Simms who never achieved the fame of Minnie, but who was a local legend for decades. www.angelfire.com/ok2/musiclink/paulcotton/simms.html

Kelly Harper's contract was extended to the 2026-7 season. She received a substantial raise. Now receiving $1 million/year. Probably remaining as coach for at least the next few years.

Ken my boy, I might just cut and paste this post to my blog tonight. Save me the search and cut and paste exercise.
And there are some many other idiotic comments over there.
Geno was a little crazed at the half. But imagine how proud they would have been if Harper had done something similar. She would have been called a hero and how great it was that she stuck up for her team.
The worst is there take on the Jackson/Edwards double technicals. Several posts say Aaliyah kicked Rickea in the head first.
Not first, not last. There was no contact with her head.

I don't imagine it will be easy for whoever follows Geno - when the eventual time comes for him to retire. It is impossible to replace a legend when a program has such high expectations, especially among the fan base. So, let's enjoy the heck out of however many years Geno will give us. Really good coaches have a certain something not easily replicated. So many intangibles that give the top coaches the "it" factor.

Yeah. I keep thinking about how it would have been if the tables were turned and Geno had stopped coaching first. And how lucky we are.
But maybe we would have gotten better replacements. Look at ND.

We see it one way, Tennessee fans see it another. Yet, we all saw the same thing!

And there are some many other idiotic comments over there. If you're looking for fodder there is plenty. One theme the crack me up is how quick they gave up (the fans of course, I give credit to the players for not giving up). Post number 204 declaring it's over. I know I know you're thinking that's an understandable sentiment but it was posted 8:08 and the game didn't tip off at eight. It was in response to Nika Muhl hitting a three, which happened 16 seconds into the game. Then you might be thinking every team has one fan who reacts that way but I think there are three separate posts declaring that Nika's opening shot meant the game was over. I didn't think that way but I do remember being happy he took it and made it. I was imagining the team going over the scouting report — "Nika is going to distribute but you don't have to worry about her scoring. In the last game she only took two shots and didn't make either. Don't worry about her shooting." Then she hits that opening three and hits another two six minutes in the game

Harper in her press conference was asked what Geno meant to WCBB. There was plenty she could say, but she didn't. She came up with he has a big personality and they love him in Conn. but hate him everywhere else. Like I said elsewhere it wouldn't bother me a bit to have this series end.

This is easy for me to say and tougher on the team because of travel; but I'd like to see a 2 game swing out west to play "CIVILIZED" teams. Stanford, Oregan, UCLA, Texas and such teams. Drop Tennessee like yesterday and wave bye bye.

Sometimes following the coaching tree works sometimes it doesn't. UCLA tried both methods for 20 years before it claimed another title. As for the rivalry, I think it's worn out it's welcome. Play Stanford instead.

Sometimes, despite all the couples' therapy, divorce is the best solution. But there are two main reasons why it needs to continue: 1. It's a great opportunity for ESPN to draw viewers. WCBB needs that. 2. It's for Pat's fund, and Geno is helping out with that because he wants to.

There was no foul intentional or otherwise from her. Lie on the floor and suddenly try to get up. As you try to bring your knees up, they must necessarily bend. Since Jackson was continuing to hold her down at and above her knee, that foot rose into the air ... not making contact with Jackson at all. Physics will do that. Even people who train in self defense for years would not be likely to think of making a kick like that in such a circumstance. Finally, if this were a kick intending to make contact ... remember this is a fine athlete known for her blend of strength and speed ... let me simply say that if that were the intent, the characteristics would be entirely different... the foot wouldn't be loose and floppy. The speed would have been greater. The motion would not have stopped at 90 degrees. And most importantly, if intended, I submit Aaliyah would have succeeded in making forceful contact. Now. Review that clip again ... The defense rests.

Review that clip again ... The defense rests. I submit that there were 2 intents: 1) Jackson's obvious, blatant intentional foul & 2) The homer officiating crew's intent to mitigate the damage to the Lady Vols by declaring both parties equally guilty. SEC justice is a complicated mess of boolsheit. Equal justice under the SEC law is a myth.

WCBB officials just have so little experience with huge and noisy crowds. Sorry to say that they get intimidated and the 2nd period was the result. The double foul call in the 2nd half was evidence. The initial call I believe was going to be a double common foul because the whistle came before the vol player did her body slam. At that point the ref called that move a flagrant and it was after a long look at the tape that they came up with the kick. Hits to anyone while the hitter had their back to the player have been called "incidental contact" over and over again for a long time. Example: Mabrey the elder karate chopped Gabby in the throat but since she was looking elsewhere it was not even a common foul.

That's what home crowds are for. I used to go to the Palestra, which has no sidelines at all. we fans were right on top of the action and did our best to intimidate the refs.

I really thought the Vol post calling on Geno to go peacefully in his sleep was a really Tenn fan gem. It was left up as of 1/2 hour ago.

What a poster said on the OI board (orange idiot): Cora Hall just retweeted a series of pictures of Edwards absolutely doing the dirty on the Rickea takedown. Said that's what she thought she saw live, but pics confirm and according to Hall, look really bad on Edwards. Basically grabbed around waist with both hands, flipped over, intentionally locked legs around and kicked RJ in the head when she tried to get out of the leglock.
And initially, they called this foul on Rickea! Take a look at those pics. Cora Hall calling out Edwards as dirty. Also cc to Lobo, who owes RJ an apology, as if.

I saw no leg lock. Jackson rolled between Aaliyah's legs, and Aaliyah raised her calves and feet to try to get up. Where was she supposed to put her legs? With her feet up by her own head? There was no "lock" involved.
If I am ever in an accident down in Tennessee, I will ask my lawyer not to use any Tennessee residents as eye witnesses. They just can't see what happens right in front of them.
"Yes sir, yer honor. That there UConnChapette made a 360 turn at the red light, quicker than a flea can jump off my hound dog into my still. She then threw it into reverse and backed into that good ol' boy from TN going at least 150 mph. All while using both hands on her cell phone, reading text messages and eating a big ol' greasy slab of ribs. Oh, my. Please excuse dem der monkeys flying out my butt."
