So much converstation on the message boards, both UConn and Tennessee, are talking about foul problems for UConn.
Tennessee fans say that the Lady Vols have to go right at the UConn players and get them in foul trouble because they have a weak and limited bench.
UConn fans say that the only way they can lose if their team gets into foul trouble.
Pretty much the same take on the issue.
However, there is more to the foul issue than meets the eye.
1. UConn is 21st in fouling in the country. They have not been in any serious foul trouble all season. Dorka has only fouled 14 times all year. Not one player averages over 2.3 fouls per game. Only Ayanna Patterson has fouled out. And very few times has any players gotten into early foul trouble (2 in the first quarter) and had to sit.
2. Tennessee is 191st in fouling in the country. They had 4 players foul out including 2 of their posts and their starting point guard.
Now saying that, funny things happen in Tennessee and UConn could certainly have some foul issues. But it's not likely. And any scheme by a team to get the opposing team in foul trouble is a losing proposition.

If it is UConn fan discussing foul trouble, they are probably thinking about Maryland. And yes. In that one game, it was an issue.

My concern is that Tenn will foul often and hard and at some point the refs are going to find things to call on UConn "to even up the fouls". But this UConn team is experienced enough to avoid the stupid fouls and have done so lately. Even Muhl. It's taken away some of the aggressive play on defense but Tenn will make enough unforced errors to more than make up for it.

It won’t happen, and if it does, a chance for Ayanna, Amari and Ines to step up and impress.
