I saw this. And I thought it was a pretty desperate move tbh.
Who knows what this player will look like in 4 years. Shrug.

Sooooo...an 8th grader makes a commitment even before she graduates 8th grade, has a drivers license. Yeah, it does seem strange, Nan. Good for her, I guess. Not sure if Kellie will even be in TN then. I think she should be focused on 2023-24, no? No commits at all. I'll be surprised if Pissot hangs around.

Are you suggesting that Pissot will tell Tennessee to piss off.....??

Even open-minded Raoul sees the lunacy of Tennessee Lady Vol recruiting:

Headline should have read, "TN beats Louisville to signing".

Has UConn ever offered an 8th grader? Or for that matter a 9th grader? Probably, but none come to mind.

An acceptance is unusual. Not unusual to offer. Didn't Brenda offer Fudd in the 6th grade? Walz offers very early. Can you blame Holly? After getting shut out in 2023? My suspicion is that Holly focused almost exclusively on top talent and Tenn is no longer at that level. The type of talent that made Pat's teams great is going to Dawn at SCar.
Tenn fans want titles and Pat's style of play. Great coaches create their own style of play.
I worry that when Geno retires UConn will fall into the same rut, hiring popular ex-players who promise to recreate Geno's teams in his image. If UConn didn't suck so much that no experienced coach wanted the job UConn wouldn't have hired Geno.

Why would a parent allow their child to accept a college scholarship when they are not even in high school yet? A lot can change in four years!

Why would a parent allow their child to accept a college scholarship when they are not even in high school yet? A lot can change in four years! that's a good question: I suppose it could be ego - having coached that age and had daughters who played, there's no shortage of parents who get self-gratification from their children getting attention for success in athletics. Or, it actually could be a semi clear-headed understanding that none of this is binding on the young lady, and that's what she actually wants at this time. Of course, she also wants a particular item of clothing that she won't want to be caught dead in, in two years, so...

You gotta believe on a recruit makes the decision to commit to a team, they are going to watch the very next game was special interest.

Why would a parent allow their child to accept a college scholarship when they are not even in high school yet? A lot can change in four years! Well until they sign, they can always change their minds. A few recruits every year "reopen their recruitments". Have to wait and see what really happens.

I get why a family would urge their kid to sign. in 8th grade: guaranteed college education, especially if the school can't back out, even if she never develops further.

Well they can't actually "sign" til 11th grade. I do think scholarships can be pulled..(I think??)..however, it's a really bad look for the University.
