And there's evidence that people aren't paying attention. Maybe you can justify the AP selection of Tennessee at number 23 before they lost to unranked Gonzaga, but after that game? No way.

No surprise that voters unanimously pick SC, but it looks like 8 or so picked UConn ahead of Stanford.

Why no love for Duke?
Massey has them ranked 21. I'm not suggesting that the coaches have to automatically follow Massey, but Duke didn't get a single vote. I think that's the only team in Massey's top 25 but didn't get a single vote in the coaches poll. Duke's strength of schedule isn't stellar, but it's almost identical to that of UMass, who isn't undefeated yet earn five points from voters. That's the argument for ranking Duke behind UMass?

The takeaway is that coaches--the folks who really know, in terms of points (which reflects their poll ranking--pretty much say USC, Stanford and UConn...and then all the rest. That's pretty much what the writers say, too, which is shocking that they've got it right.

I think we fans take these polls a lot more seriously than the voters of both polls. To me, many of the voters just dragged out the usual suspects and rearranged the names. Massey has Creighton at No 4 and with the 6th toughest SOS so far while No.25 LSU's current SOS is 354th. (out of 361) The coaches have LSU at 13th and the AP at 12th. Like the voting for homecoming queens, this is a popularity contest and your name and conference is more important than how you are playing.

Ahhh, but Coach Mulkey's wardrobe is impeccably bayou couture and which team ranked 355th wouldn't want to be massacred by such a fashionable lady??

Kim's couture resembles nothing so much as dead lizards. Bayou fashion requires several gator items. Boots, purses, jackets. To say nothing of a pair of snakeskin pants. Mulkey is a whining baby when things don't work out but I love to watch her at a game. WCBB needs more characters in their coaching ranks.

Lately Kim has taken to baggy, albeit sparkly , shirts with a tiger motif.
