Good for her, but I wonder what she means “sitting out at a healthy situation”? Something didn’t sit right with her at UConn , that much is clear.

Something didn’t sit right with her at UConn , that much is clear. and this; "have that competitive healthy love of the game again after having it taken away allowed me to realize my love for it." I can understand if she didn't feel good about her place at UConn--whether it wasn't the right social or academic fit (really? but okay, let's give her that). First years can especially be unhappy. But she's using the passive voice here: that something--presumably UConn--took away her love of the game. It's one thing to say "I wasn't loving the game there." It's quite another to say "UConn made me not love the game." Well, water under the bridge. Every kid should end up where they can be happy. Glad she's happy now.

Since we're responding to reasonable speculation... COVID stole a lot of joy for a lot of kids. She left her HS early, so who knows if there was any basketball joy there. People who are both gifted and driven and who have had success and been lauded at every level can be deeply affected when encountering others to whom they cannot measure up. It is a harsh reality. None of these interpretations would poke UCONN.

I was really keen on Saylor but it was not to be. Seemed like she clutched up from the get go, so it just might be that the expectations at UConn got to her. Hopefully Arkansas will click and stay clicking for her.

Arkansas has recruited well recently. They need to make the tournament this year. And they probably need to win a game. (Should be a top 8 seed.) let’s see if they can do it.

Maybe there is a lesson there. I thought she'd be a starter at UConn and was very sorry to see her depart.

Seeing Azzi and Caroline may have made her think twice about her prospects for starting.

Seeing Azzi and Caroline may have made her think twice about her prospects for starting. ... and Paige, and Aaliyah, and Aubrey, and ... even more on the recruiting docket.... She may have been able to turn that corner skills-wise, but it may have been emotionally daunting. I'm certainly in agreement with the sentiment that has been mentioned a couple of times. We wish her the best and hope that she is happy.

Maybe early practice convinced her that Caroline would get the minutes at the 3 ahead of her. Certainly, Caroline was more highly rated out of high school and even beat Azzi in a 3 point shoot out the summer before matriculation. Anyway, she's a star at Arkansas, where maybe the social scene is also more to her likely.

Superb athlete but less than mediocre baller.

I think Aubrey is considerably better than mediocre. Maybe it is just a vocabulary interpretation discrepancy. I think Mediocre is someone likely to be a blow-outs-only kind of player. Aubrey has even been in the UCONN starting lineup a few times. AG hasn't attained stardom in the UCONN annals, and likely isn't going to be wall-worthy, but she is certainly an asset. Back issue and all, I would take Aubrey over Saylor today. Saylor is purported to be a better shooter, but we didn't see that. In every other way, she is behind Aubrey and they fit the same role coverage. Defensively, Griffin is miles ahead. Rebounding, too. Might Poffenbarger overcome those deficits? Sure. But, we're not going to see it here. Maybe we never were going to see it, and maybe that's why she left. Maybe not, but I don't think she was going to pass any of the five names listed (three by me).

No it is not just words, we have a broad gulf in our assessment of Aubrey, but that's all right. I hope yours prevails.

I don’t know what happened. I think in November last year it probably looked like she would never play. Then a lot changed after she transferred out.
Additionally, I like that someone mentioned covid. She was far from home in Connecticut during covid and she probably didn’t really get the Uconn experience.
I wish her the best. But I also want Uconn to win a championship and do great things. And I want her to see what she is missing.
