Whomever scheduled this game is not thinking straight. Hail Maries should not be part of game scheduling.

Whomever scheduled this game is not thinking straight. Hail Maries should not be part of game scheduling. The best that can be said is that UConn should earn a fair amount of "appearance fee" for going there. The athletic department needs the money rather desperately, and likely they'd lose whomever they played! :-)

Once Uconn gets through these next three games; they should have a chance to start to be competitive again.

I have to believe that Michigan would get better competition from a scrimmage with pads. But when you look up "moron" in the dictionary, you'll find a photo of the Harbaugh brothers. Michigan's played Colorado State, Hawaii, and UConn. Not their fault that Maryland's next--that's the start of the B1G season. But essentially all the teams with aspirations for the play-offs have had at least one test (at least on pre-season paper) so far. But Michigan has now played its entire OOC schedule with nothing to show but lopsided scores against woeful competition.

UConn is a football independent. No conference media rights to share, so they have to schedule some really tough teams and get creamed on national television in order to bring in money to defray the costs of the program. Season ticket sales are abysmal so they can’t count on that then come source.
Don’t we encourage other lower tier women’s basketball teams to play the best teams in order to improve? Haven’t we seen how other conference teams tend to improve by playing UConn at least once every season?
It may not make much sense, but UConn has to accept there will be humiliating defeats in order to feed the coffers. Maybe, overtime and by playing top level teams they will improve.
I said to my brother-in-law, a die hard Nebraska fan, UConn and Nebraska should play. At least one of the teams would win. He was not amused.

You want to attract top players? You have to schedule bigtime teams.

I think you want to schedule teams that are better than you but not so much better that it's a complete blow-out and embarrassment.
You schedule Michigan only because they'll fill their stadium and fill your pockets.
