Yesterday after cutting the grass I goofed of (I mean to say I researched) and watched Youtube video of Olivia Olson, a 6' combo guard from St. Louis Park, Minnesota, a suburb of the Twin Cities. (For some reason that town sounds familiar.) Seems to me she's been mentioned here before but I couldn't find any mention of it. Anyway Olivia is a sophomore combo guard at Benidle-St Margaret's High School and is the 3rd ranked recruit in ESPN's 2024 rankings. Long, skinny, blonde hair. Started for her high school team since 8th grade, wears #1, team plays in the highest classification in the state. If you only knew Paige Bueckers by reputation, physical description and read a scouting report about her and then watched a video of Olivia you would think SHE was Paige Bueckers. Most of the video I've seen of Paige were as a senior. Olivia's videos are a couple freshmen games and a bunch of summer league games from this summer. The similarities are down right spooky. (Thanks Halloween.) It's not right to compare anyone to Paige but how could you not after watching Olivia? Very aggressive, fine ballhandler, great passer, totally unselfish, not afraid to mix it up under the boards. Incredible shooter with Caroline range on her jumpers. Paige seemed to be a little quicker and her passes had a little more steam on them but it's comparing a senior to a freshmen/sophomore. A short video of her shows here being interviewed by a local tv station. Very poised speaker, not nervous at all. She has a summer job cutting lawns and said she just likes to keep busy, work ethic box is checked. She also said, and this was interesting, that after she grows up she wants to live out in the country. I wonder if their are any college campuses that are in a rural setting? No way, too much pressure on following Supergirl. Not so sure about that, I think she's got ice water in her veins and it wouldn't bother her. We'll see.

Now I remember. As usual, I'm a day late and a dollar short. OO, I may have even commented on that.

Thanks. Now would some of you guys watch her videos and either agree with me or tell me I'm nuts and need to increase my prescription dosage?

I'll keep an eye out for one of her high school games. I like to watch complete games. What impressed me with Bueckers was how she remained totally engaged (in the moment) for the entire game. She was also 5'10" and still called olive oyle so Olson has a significant size edge at the same age.

Shooting... seems similar Passing... that's too much to ask. There's good, great, and then there's Paige. Ball handling... looks very good. Killer instinct, work ethic, etc... who knows? Other areas... bigger, stronger than Bueckers at same age. Would be delighted to have her come to Storrs, but fear it's unlikely given the horses already in the stable.

Just read an article from the Star Tribune in Minneapolis on the Yahoo.com homepage. It was about the great job Lindsay Whalen is doing in recruiting the 2022 class. Currently ranked # 7 in the country and first in the Big 10, 3 Top 55 recruits, all from Minnesota. I am happy for Lindsay and am a little surprised it took this long (4 years) for her to start keeping the instate talent home. However, having said that, no Lindsay, your not getting OO.
