Time for games to begin. Do we know yet who the secret D1 is? I was thinking, hey I bet Geno scheduled a game with Jose! I would say a more local team. Quinnipiac or UHart most likely. Did they say where the closed scrimmage would be played? Money matters, and with no media and no gate, very little will be available. If the event is in Storrs (or Hartford), it would necessarily be someone who could get there cheaply. Making the above teams the strongest candidates, both for proximity and relationships. I think UCONN might be more able to swing a few travel dollars than most candidate schools, so that radius could possibly be a bit wider. Still, I'd be surprised if they get on a plane, ruling out someone like USF. If Geno wants a bit more challenge ... might he call C. Viv? Who else would meet these three criteria: 1. Worthy competition (Let's just loosely bucket that at teams with a shot at a tourney invite, but unlikely to make the Sweet Sixteen) 2. Located close enough for minimal cost (Maybe a bus ride and a meal, with no overnight) 3. Not already on the schedule

Oh, yeah, I'm sure you are right. It was just an idea that came to me when out walking and made me laugh. It would be nice to see Vandy & Shea pay UConn a visit!

That would be very, very cool, even if it's a "secret" scrimmage. But chicagogg suggested Quinnipiac in the original discussion, and I'm willing to bet she's right. Geno has always done what he could to boost that program. And, as swash says, money matters a lot at UConn, unless Vandy is willing to fly to Storrs. Still, I'm betting on the Big Q.

Maybe she isn't that good. We need ONO to be what we all hoped she would be. THAT is the difference between a championship or not. Dorka provides depth as an insurance policy should ONO get in foul trouble or if she never gets over the hump. Just because we like a kid doesn't mean she is good enough to be a major impact player for this team. Some players just need to fill a role and their reward is being part of something great that most people never experience. maybe she isn’t that good? Juhász averaged a double-double at Ohio State in her junior season and earned All-Big Ten First Team honors twice. She excels the most is on the glass, averaging 11.1 rebounds per game in 2020-21, up from just over nine in her first two seasons with the Buckeyes. She IS that good. I feel confident that we'll be very pleased with what Dorka does this season!! BTW.....When asked about Paige; Geno said she's better than last season!! Geno said that Paige isn't deferring as she did early last season! She knows this is her team / Ferrari and she's gonna hit all gears!!

The biggest thing I care about is improvement on the free throw percentage across the board. Especially those who play closest to the basket and are likely to be fouled with regularity. They know who they are. We left way too many points off the board last year due to this. It could make a difference between winning against the top teams and losing.
I have seen enough last second losses with the football team this year. They did win this weekend, but really, they got lucky.

well, my take on the DI team is NOT UHart. If Morgan was still coaching, it'd be my first choice, but UCONN poached her away (not really, but). I suspect it's Quinnipiac. Pronounced QUIN-e-pee-ack not quin-a-PEE-ack.
Not for or against that school until commentators started massacering their name. Then it became a sort of state pride, native american pride thing. An insult to all things Nutmeg.
