Hurley has proven to be a good coach but not a great coach. To get to the next level he needs to show that he can adjust to the players he has. Great coaches are not stubborn.
1. No more playing favorites. He isn't good at it. He went with Brendan Adams for far too long, for example. He also played Andre Jackson far too much. We needed points and Polley was the right answer. Instead, he played him far too little and the guy never got into a groove.
2. He now has even more depth than he had last year. Run! Generate points off the break. When guys get tired, utilize your depth!
3. Zone press, a lot! Again, you have depth, use it!
4. Play zone D at least half the game. Yes, Polley has a hard time guarding the perimeter. But he is long and so are a lot of the other guys on the team. This team can be good in the zone and it throws off the other team. Calhoun used to switch up defenses masterfully when he had teams like this.
