Shea Ralph as HC to Vanderbilt? I can't link it but a tweet by a Mike DiMauro says it's a done deal and husband, UMass-Lowell HC Tom Garrick is going with her. Announcement later this week, probably Wednesday. Don't shoot the messenger.

This could be a great move for Shea. Long time assistant for Geno and time for her to get some head coaching experience. Could she later come back when Geno retires? Maybe.
If true, I will wish her nothing but success.
Too early to start speculating who replaces her? UConn pedigree/legacy? Nykesha Sales perhaps?

Great news for Shea, do you guys think their is any chance that Jen replaces her? What a fantastic idea! I just wonder, however, how well Jen, having twice been a head coach herself, would subordinate herself, not only to Geno but in some sense to CD.

I have to think at this point the next hire will be with an eye on succession planning. Geno and CD will not coach forever.

I looked to see if there was a thread, and did not see it. Yes, this is the one I couldn't link. I copied it but I must have screwed it up somehow.

I just didn't think it would look legitimate if I couldn't paste the link. But I noticed later that the blog called World Exposure Report was reporting it also. Don't know how credible either is but I thought it was worth mentioning. I think Shea is more than ready for a shot so I hope she does well.

I hope it's not Jen. And I really hope she is not in line for Geno's job eventually.

Recently retired WNBA star - Montgomery? How about a long shot - Molly Bent?

Recently retired WNBA star - Montgomery? How about a long shot - Molly Bent? A long shot, but a great one! One of my all-time favs. I think, however, that she's not quite ready for the big time. A lot of recruiting savvy required.

Hard pass on Renee Montgomery. Will be interesting to see if Jen slides in there. How about Berube? In my mind, Berube and Ralph are two top choices to step in when Geno retires. I think Bird and Taurasi could be good too but zero experience so no data to go by. Maybe Lobo steps into coaching now? Any outsiders? Is there a Geno out there?

Monty or D...and in 15 years, Paige. D has said repeatedly that she doesn't like Storrs. Doesn't even like to visit.

vucommodores.com/welcome-shea-ralph/“It is with great honor and a full heart that I join Vanderbilt University as the next women’s basketball head coach,” Ralph said. “I have always been motivated and inspired by people who have a passionate pursuit of excellence. Vanderbilt’s rich, storied tradition of excellence speaks for itself, but I believe what sets us apart is the people. I am so excited to work alongside our amazing community in elevating our women’s basketball program back to an elite level. Together we will invest in each other and build a greatness that transcends the game of basketball.”
