I saw it, but was I dreaming? For a team that's not good on defense they were GREAT on defense. I get it now, the freshmen came down from a higher league. Paige is the best player in the country. Amazing job by the coaching staff, SC's fast break stuffed. Sure glad I recorded it, might keep this one for awhile.

Went over to Vol Land and checked it out. My God Darth_Vol has declared Paige the NPOY among other things. Some chortling at Evina's stats for the night. Some mourning about us getting Azzi. If Paige keeps up her trajectory, she should be NPOY! However; voters look to give that award to more senior players! She could keep up these 30 point games and force the votes her way.....I hope she does!!!! I'm ready to have a statue built for Paige at this point! Over the past 7 days? Absolutely. Let's see how the rest of the season goes. That's a ridiculous standard to reach in your first year. Who are the leaders today? Evans. Boston. NaLyssa Smith. Howard has faded. Ari has faded a bit. Clarke, another fresh face? Gotta say, she's certainly in the mix

It was an amazing win. But I think Geno will be more concerned with what the players can learn from this game. Seriously, without Paige, who would have stepped up? Several stepped up big time, on the defensive end. Tonight UConn succeeded in beating an elite team when their offense was ineffective. A great defensive effort actually by both teams. But it's one thing for players to hear the coaches talk about defensive effort and other to experience what it takes. Both teams were on fumes late and it was a battle of wills. I like Bueckers in those situations.

Still need to say this: Liv played a really good game. Like the Marquette game, she's really integrating her game into a true motion 5 out read and react. That means facilitating all the screens and cuts for her teammates. To my mind, UConn's greatest center for its offense was Stef Dolson. Liv can get there yet. I must have watched a different game. She played good defense but I thought ONO very nearly cost them the game with the ill advised outside shooting late in the game. SC rebounded and scored off both her misses to tie it up.

She also led the team in assists. I'll keep saying it: if she shouldn't shoot from the outside, the coaches would tell her. It's part of how they play motion 5 out. If they didn't want that, they'd play motion 4 out. And, sure, the shooting seems to frustrate us. She was 3-10, but Christyn was 3-11. So? If she had hit a couple, Boston would have had to come out further, and then the baseline would have been open for Paige. I have to believe that was planned.

So when will Bueckers be on the Tonight Show?

Going to leave this game thread here until tomorrow morning when I create the Seton Hall game thread. I usually unsticky the game threads at least the day before the next game, but the final seven games of the regular season are coming fast and furious now. Plus, This was a great win. The game thread deserves to stay up until tomorrow!

A sloppily played damn exciting barn burner. I say Paige’s 3 was worth 10 and I’m sticking to it I know this verges on nit-picking, but I honestly don't think it was so much sloppy as highly-contested. Admittedly, the poor shooting from the line and outside the arc didn't help, but, there weren't a lot of unforced errors: dem errors were the result of tough play. Mea Culpa. Poor choice of words. More appropriately in an earlier post I credited SCAR’s D for sketchy O. The opposite is true too, UCONN’s D was really good too
