I don't know what's going on with Abbey Hsu, who is the best player in the Ivies. Is she not going for a 5th year. Maybe because she took a year off, between her freshman and sophomore year she's not eligible for the Covid exemption? Don't know, but she would be my #1 otherwise. Can’t remember where, but I recall reading somewhere that the Ivy League doesn’t have a fifth year option for its student athletes …

I assumed Abbey would do what so many top Ivies have done the past couple of years: plug holes in competitive D-1 programs. But Abbey, easily the top player in the Ivies this year, hasn't indicated she's interested in going somewhere next year, so, maybe because she actually took a year off, she vacated her NCAA eligibility for a 5th year.

Big, big loss for Creighton and for the Big East.... Too bad. I feel like she’s been there forever. I like her game. Hope she has a great year next year

Shockingly another Duck (and a pretty good one!) flies away. If there's an extra position (and we hope there isn't!) and she's willing to share time, UConn could do a lot worse. In fact, she'd be a terrific get for just about any team. Paired with Iriafen, Stanford would have a formidable front court.

I believe I read Abbey Hsu declared for the WNBA draft

She would be a terrific fit. I'm betting there will be a lot of interest in the West Coast teams. Southern Cal could use some veteran bigs. Stanford and UCLA will also be attractive.

what's up with Syracuse? 3 players in the portal. why? Fair carried them this year. She'll be gone. What do their prospects look like in a deep ACC? I can see it. This is the new way. Not get better, jump to a team that is better already. Also, we need to change our attitude toward portal entry. In the old days, people left and there was a pretty big penalty to be paid. So, things had to be pretty bad. There was a certain amount of acrimony ... stated or otherwise. We could usually take a look and assess ... either the transferring player, or a coach, or ugly teammates ... most of the time, one or more person was to be faulted. The only "good" transfers were when a player was mis-recruited, say not up to the level expected. The portal (and process) was specifically intended to address these situations. But a funny thing happened on the way to Shangri-La. You're not (necessarily) taking on someone else's malcontent. Kids transfer to essentially re-open their recruitment ... to test the waters. Others, seek greener pastures, more talented teammates, a chance to win. Stigma is washed away. Then we throw in the huge swell of superseniors, most of whom would have skulked offshore to find a game or begun their grown-up lives with a real job. But here they are. Mature. Experienced. Aware of how hard one must work to succeed. Distilled from a large pool and proven successful. Often leaders. Willing to be the grinders... to do the dirty-work necessary for the stars to shine. There is already actual film on these kids against real competition - without requiring traveling all over the continent (and elsewhere). Now the portal becomes a richer source of reward than the HS and AAU circuit.

Per the Athletic, Haley Van Lith has entered the portal, leaving LSU for her final year of eligibility.

what's up with Syracuse? 3 players in the portal. why? Players are watching the tourney too. They see a competitive team lacking something and they think, " hey I can go there and have a FF chance" . I love my teammates but..... We are getting close to the point where teams that have no All American on their roster will have no chance to make a FF. Then there are teams like USC who has JuJu, but will need to replace seniors and grad. students.

I get the feeling that it just wasn’t fun to be a player there this year. Too much drama. Wouldn’t be surprised if Morrow followed her out.
